Corporate Leaders Can Help Their Employees Address The Growing Fear Of The Police.

On occasion, we hear about horrible crimes committed in the workplace. Many of these incidents are brutal hate crimes spiraled by angry employees. With increasing incidents of angry students and employees scheming plots of gun violence in either work or school, tension is now higher than it used to be in the general public. Workplace environments aim to harbor safe environments for employees, as many employers seek to create a desirable and secure environment for their employees.

Many organizations cater to incorporate safety training by addressing employees in the workplace with safety classes taught by either the risk management or human resources department. Often these courses address topics such as a bomb threat, a terrorist threat, a gun threat, or an ethics reporting hotline. While all these courses are beneficial, none address the fear of the police, a growing concern for public safety.

Capiophobia isn’t like other phobias. Due to the nature of capiophobia, people may be reluctant to get involved with any type of law enforcement interaction due to the fear of the police or getting arrested. Capiophobia does not discriminate against those who will experience this type of fear or where it will manifest itself. Reporting any threat is effective if done promptly or ever reported.

Sadly, with the increased incidents of police brutality on the news, the fear of the police is spreading, causing more people to stay away from seeking help from law enforcement or reporting a crime. As more people lose their trust in law enforcement, the wedge of communication is cutting deeper between the capiophobe and law enforcement. With that said, from a risk management perspective addressing the fear of the police with your staff and employees can assist your organization with the communication barrier capiophobes experience with law enforcement.

Our capiophobia awareness and prevention program aims to educate the public about the fear of the police and promote a higher willingness to report potential threats or crimes accordingly. Employers become aware of the phobia by educating staff and employees about capiophobia. A deeper understanding of the phobia can break the capiophobia sufferer’s resistance to reporting a crime or knowledge of a threat when needed.

Employers can offer a free valuable resource to their employee safety training program by using all or parts of our Capiophobia Awareness and Prevention Program and adding the free anonymous crime reporting widget link (located in step 3 of the program) to your internal employee resource website. Adding the widget links to your external website can also make it easier for people living with capiophobia to report a threat or a crime while taking full advantage of their anonymity protection.

Where Do You Start?

Report Crimes In Your School, Church, Workplace, or Neighborhood Anonymously.

You can make a difference by reporting suspicious criminal activity to your local authority. Suppose you are afraid of the police or law enforcement and don’t want to report a crime directly to your local police authority. In that case, you can report suspicious criminal activity safely using any of our domestic or international privately owned anonymous crime reporting resources below.

Reporting anonymous crimes often leads to a more honest report of the crime from people living with capiophobia because they are not interacting directly with law enforcement, the trigger of the phobia itself.
